Sunday 18-May Heywood a League Won Dion Taljard Pauk Hughes -

Match Report from the Oldham Chronicle:

Royton profit as rivals are forced to sit it out
ROYTON stole a march on most of their CLL rivals when they pulled off an exciting six-run victory at Heywood in a rain-affected match.
With Saturday’s programme a total wash-out and only two matches completed yesterday, The Paddock side moved to within two points of leaders Rochdale.
Royton scored 138 for four from their 25 overs.
Openers Warren Teall (34) and Matthew Ward (32) put on 60 for the opening wicket.
Then, after a procession of quick wickets, Royton recovered from 75 for four.
Dion Taljard (37 not out) and Glenn Dickinson (10 not out) staged an unbroken 63-run partnership for the fifth wicket, setting Heywood a run rate of 5.5 per over.
Heywood reached 61 for two after useful knocks from Craig Glancy (20) and Bobby Cross (33).
But they fell behind the run rate required and, with six overs remaining, still needed 60 runs for victory.
Professional Johan Botha and Gary Wilkinson opened up to take Heywood within 23 runs of their target with two overs remaining.
Wilkinson appeared to have hit a six off the first ball of the penultimate over, but it was downgraded to a four.
Needing 11 off the last over, Heywood’s hopes nosedived when Botha was caught behind for 48 by Ryan Harding off Taljard’s first ball.
Wilkinson (25) and Chris Kaye (3) were unbeaten as Heywood fell six runs short of Royton’s total, Taljard taking the three wickets to fall.
