From the Oldham Chronicle (Monday )
ROYTON gave themselves some much-needed cheer, registering a 24-run derby win
again Oldham at The Pollards.
Half centuries from Matthew Ward and Lee Gibbons - both made 55 - helped Royton
reach 213 for eight from their 50 overs, with
Martin Smith and Stuart Moore each taking three wickets.
Oldham looked out for the count when they slumped to 82 for seven.
But a 79-run eighth-wicket stand between Jason Maher and Stuart Moore helped
them claw their way back into the hunt.
Moore was the eighth wicket to fall, after making 45, and Maher was last man out
for 46.
Mark Woodward inflicted most of the damage with a seven-wicket haul for 59 runs
from 15 overs.
