ROYTON kept up their good form after defeating Unsworth at the Coppice despite seeing overseas
professional Iqbal Imam out for a duck.
Nevertheless, Royton recovered well from that shock to make a good score of 228-9 from their 50 overs.
Leading the way was opener Matthew Ward who struck an invaluable 64, having seen colleague Warren
Teall also out for five as the hosts slipped to 19-2.
Other vital contributions came from Simon Webb who made 34 and Denny Hulme who chipped in with 33.
Unsworth's reply was checked by the displays of Mark Woodward, who took 4-65, and Guy Lovell with 3-72.
Their spells ensured the points were Royton's as Unsworth were all out for 213 despite Graeme Jones's 59.

ROYTON remain on the shirt tails of the leading clubs following their 15-run win against Unsworth at The Paddock.
A solid batting display, despite a duck from professional Iqbal Imam, saw Royton reach 228 for nine.
Opener Matthew Ward hit seven fours in a sparkling 64 as he helped Royton recover from 19 for two to 142 for four at which point he was finally dismissed.
There were also useful knocks from middle-order men Simon Webb (34), Denny Hulme (33), captain Lee Gibbons (27) and Mark Woodward (19).
Woodward (four for 65) and Guy Lovell (three for 72) claimed wickets with their first deliveries and inflicted most of the damage in Unsworth’s spirited reply. Graeme Jones hit 59 in a total of 213.
