Pictures from the day
A
Cautious start from Clarke...
and Morris
before Morris tried to hit out, but missed it !
Clarke showed him how to do it, the first of many boundaries for Royton
Morris soon got in on the act
But Clarke stroked the ball to all parts of the ground
Morris's departure brought Majid to the wicket, a quick 2 and out
whilst Clarke kept blazing away to reach his ton before the drinks break
Kennedy replaced Khan, and promptly found the legside boundary
What a talent, he found the legside boundary without even looking at the ball !!
Clarke's
departure brought Bell to the middle, but was adjudged LBW after making only 7
Kennedy continued finding the leg side field
It had been a great day for batting already, but it got even better when Kennedy
actually cut the ball into the offside for a couple !!
Murray replaced Bell and after a measured start blasted the ball to the Norden
fence
Murray followed Kennedy's lead and smashed a few fours to the leg side (cow
corner) boundary
Westphal took over the mantle from Kennedy and promptly hid the red
sphere in the long grass in the distance
Murray continued to send the ball over the ropes on the way to 64 not out
Westphal tried to hit the cameraman with this one
before finishing off the innings by setting the the ball down next to a gnome in
a garden a few streets away. Westphal finished with 74 not out and shared a
sixth wicket partnership of over 100 with Murray
And after winning the toss and putting Royton into bat, 2hrs 35mins and 49.4 overs later, this is what the Norden captain saw going into the tea interval....

Norden's captain, after being hit to all parts of the meadow himself, opened the batting, but he was already back in the shower by the time Captain Neil Cook had completed his first over, Kennedy taking a good catch on the fourth ball of the innings. 27 more overs were bowled, Captain Neil Cook and Martin Bell bowling 14 overs each and both taking five wickets, (Cook 5-49, Bell 5-42).
