five in reply.
New professional Neil Broom made 32 and claimed three for 15 from 10 overs.

Defeat for Moonrakers
SAJITH Fernando makes his seasonal debut for Middleton this weekend,.and he
comes into a team smarting from a first-day defeat against Royton at Towncroft.
It promises to be a tough weekend for the Sri Lankan who missed last weekend’s
match due to being involved in a cup final back home.
On Saturday the Moonrakers travel to play reigning champions Norden who opened
up last weekend with a home win over Unsworth.
On Sunday they entertain Littleborough who have former Lancashire player Chris
Schofield back in their ranks as an amateur.
Whatever happens things can’t surely be as bad as on Sunday when from being in a
promising position of 100 for one Middleton collapsed to an all out 148.
Steve Davey was first to fall, bowled by Woodward for six, but Kumara and deputy
professional Dexter Fitton built the foundation of what looked like being a long
partnership.
Fitton finally fell for 28 and Kumara went for 61, both victims of new Royton
pro Neil Broom.
After that only Jimmy Ryan offered any real resistance. He was last man out, for
28, having seen four batsmen go for ducks.
It was a total some 40 or 50 runs short of what was required.
It took Royton almost 47 overs to reach their target, and Middleton did take
five wickets, but there was no real pressure on the visitors whose top scorer
with an unbeaten 41 was Dion Taljard.
