Win double lifts Royton
ROYTON’S 10-point haul from victories against Radcliffe and Oldham
enabled them to pull well clear of the bottom places in the Lake Garage CLL.
It was the first time this season the Paddock club had won twice in one weekend.
Professional Neil Broom top-scored with 87 for Royton, who rattled up 226 for
four from their 50 overs at Radcliffe on Saturday.
Overseas amateur Anthony Percy then claimed a five-wicket haul as Radcliffe were
dismissed for 216.
The margin was far more emphatic yesterday when Royton triumphed by 119 runs at
home to derby rivals Oldham.
It was an excellent display from Royton, who were 67 for six at one stage.
Majid Khan, recently promoted from the second team, justified his elevation
scoring by 74 after coming in at eight. Khan’s innings enabled Royton to make a
splendid recovery to finish on 215 for nine.
Broom then took four wickets and Martin Bell three for three as Oldham were
bowled out for 96. They lost their last four wickets for the addition of only
six runs.

The following day then brought a 119-run defeat against Royton who they had
restricted to 67-6 at one point.
However, 74 from Majid Khan saw Royton reach 215-9 before four wickets from Neil
Broom and three for Martin Bell saw Oldham all out for 96.
It was the second win of the weekend for Royton who had defeated Radcliffe by 10
runs the day before.
Batting first, Royton compiled 226-4 thanks to 87 from Broom while five wickets
from Anthony Percy saw Radcliffe all out for 216 in reply.
