Pictures from the day
Ward made a steady start
before driving to the boundary
Fellow opener Harding crashed this one off the back foot to the fence for 4 more
Percy had to sit this one out, so tucked into a pie !
Pro Broom had a long wait at number 3 as the openers put on 40odd
Ward hitting another boundary
The fine weather brought the spectators out early
Harding's wicket brought Pro Neil Broom to the crease
Ward kept finding the gaps
but Broom kept smashing it over the rope
Ward was replaced by Webb
and Broom kept on finding the gaps
This time he went out of the ground for 6
before driving for 4 through extra cover
Gibbons replaced Webb and was promptly dropped on the edge
Another missile heading for the boundary
Broom kept on sending the ball into the spectators
This one disappeared over the clubhouse and into the gardens never to be seen
again
on his way to a first century for Royton
Broom then opened his shoulders, the houses across the road had obviously sen
this kind of action on the ground before, as the bedroom window this one hit (on
the far side of the road) only cracked !
Broom then played inside out for another six over extra cover
Broom finished on 131 not out from 102 balls, his fifty coming in 55 balls, the
other 81 in just 47, most of the late runs coming off the bowling of Rishton's
Sri Lankan international professional Kumar Dharmasena.
