Ground Improvements - March/April 2005

After nearly 2 years of form filling and meetings, Royton CC have been successful in being awarded a Living Spaces Grant of £25K.
This is to undertake environmental improvement work, ie new footpaths, tree
planting, reclaiming unused / over grown land and general tidying up of the
area.
Groundwork Oldham and Rochdale have appointed local contractor Paul England and
Sons to undertake the improvements to RCC.
After a busy few days with the excavator the work is going to plan and the
project is beginning to take shape.
Tiered footpaths that will double as seating areas have now been formed. Timber retaining walls are starting to be constructed. These will create an arena type sports venue (that most clubs will be envious of).
Also a large number of trees have been planted at the opposite side to the
pavilion.
If the weather continues to be kind, (fingers crossed), then the work will be
completed for the start of the new cricket season.
