But the hosts were demolished by a determined Royton outfit who made the most of batting first to post an imposing 200 for six.

Skipper Matthew Ward led from the front with a fine knock of 55, while professional Saeed Anwar chipped in with 52.

In reply, Unsworth were blasted out for a meagre 76, Royton's overseas amateur Shaun Marais snaffling six for 30.

Victory for Royton has given them breathing space over Unsworth and has provided them with the platform from which to launch a concerted end-of-season revival.
